June Recap

While we skip a 20 game Wednesday slate that includes several double headers plus resumption of a suspended game, there seems like no better time to recap June's results.

Following an ill fated, rare Saturday post that resulted in an 0-8 showing on Action Network, the last week kof June was straight fire.

This pulled us out of a monthly hole.

More importantly, it pulled us out of a season hole, created by a weak May performance.

The baseball season is a long and trying grind. It would probably be silly to request an end to the roller coaster rides, but lets just hope we can keep this season best run going a little bit longer and avoid the red sea for the remainder of the season.

One last piece of work to consider. I've stayed away from mixing politics with my baseball here all season, but if the budge reconciliation bill isn't bad enough, on Tuesday we learned that a piece of legislation was included that only allowed gambling losses up to 90% of wins to be claimed on taxes. The results of such a tax law would be disastrous to anyone who came out ahead, often requiring them to pay back ALL of their winnings in taxes. An attempt was made on Twitter by @fairplaygov to illustrate what this may look like. The bill has already passed the Senate and been sent back to the House. If you are in a district represented by a Republican and don't want the following table to become a reality, it would be best to reach out to your rep and let them know.

In most cases, even the people voting FOR this legislation recognize how horrid it is. Force them to do better.
