PIVAT — Pitcher Velocity & IVB Alert Tool

PIVAT watches every MLB starting pitcher in real time and alerts you the moment something changes — a sudden drop or spike in fastball velocity, or a shift in a fastball's ride (induced vertical break). Whether it's an early warning sign of fatigue or injury, or a pitcher who's simply "on" tonight, you'll know within seconds, not innings.

PIVAT doesn't tell you what to do with this information and isn't an immediate betting signal in and of itself. It's simply a signal that something may be different — worth pulling up Baseball Savant or your game feed of choice to take a closer look.

A change in velocity or movement doesn't automatically mean a pitcher will perform better or worse; it just means something's worth checking. Think of PIVAT as doing the legwork of watching every game at once, so you know exactly where to look instead of combing through all of them yourself.

You're seeing this as part of a small early beta test.

Which option should I use?

💻 On a computer or Android phone/tablet: The button below works well. Just keep this page open in a browser tab (it can be minimized or in the background, just not fully closed) while you're following games.

📱 On an iPhone or iPad: Apple limits how web pages work in the background, so this page alone isn't reliable for you. Please use the free ntfy app instead — it takes about 2 minutes to set up:

  1. Open the App Store and search for "ntfy" (it's free — look for the simple megaphone-style icon)
  2. Tap Get to install it, then open the app
  3. Tap the + button to subscribe to a new topic
  4. Type in exactly this: mtrol-pitcher-alerts-8842
  5. Tap Subscribe

Want to stop getting alerts?

If you're using the button above (browser page): just tap "Stop Notifications" once it appears — that's it, alerts stop immediately, and you can always turn them back on later by revisiting this page.

If you're using the ntfy app on your phone: open the app, find mtrol-pitcher-alerts-8842 in your list of topics, and tap it — there's an option there to unsubscribe.
