We're still a full 3pm slate away from the completion of the regular 162 game season as I write this. And let me say that I hate the every game starting at the same time garbage. However, now seemed the optimal time to recap September and the regular season here, getting it out of the way before working on the first four Wild Card games scheduled for Tuesday.
It's a great ending. September was the strongest showing of the season and maybe the best month since this site has been in operation. There was an 18-1 post-season run in 2023, mostly documented on Twitter, if I recall correctly.
Wouldn't it be nice if every month was this joyous.

And now the full season results:

It's obvious that September took the season from "well, at least we didn't lose" to a much healthier year. The 18.2 unit uptick actually began on August 22nd, at a point where we were just about dead even on the season.
If we go back further, to our lowest point of the season, just after the All-Star break, from July 23rd onward, it was a 23.13 unit upswing. The goal is turn at least a 20 unit profit in both halfs next season.
I firmly believe looking for slightly larger edges this year and looking for reasons to cut out games rather than add them added to the success. There will be one final update after the post-season, but as of now, the strongest performances have been Sides (as opposed to total) and also Sides posted the night before, rather than during the day of the game.
I wish I would have kept records of extra-inning games, but I did keep track of closing line value (or at least line movement value the last time I checked for the day) and will be posting that too after the post-season, when I have more time to analyze the results.
As for daily fantasy results, I wouldn't even know how to accurately evaluate. I can tell you that my own single entry lineups just about broke even this year and that feels like quite the accomplishment, considering the rake and the fact that I didn't find a first place finish all season. The rest of the DFS notes given here, it's for readers to decide how valuable it's been.
That's all until post-season content on Monday night, unless you want to read how 80 cents cost me over $200 on a FanDuel slots promo last week. What I learned was always check your bonus funds, even if you didn't know you had any and it's not obvious or easy to find, before attempting to qualify for a promotion.
